MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- A Marshall County man has been charged with the burning of a home in the Union Grove area.
Neighbors said the father owned the home but that it was being rented.
State fire marshal officials have not said if he has a grievance against his father or the renters.
27-year-old Jamie Stephen Shelton of Union Grove faces second degree arson charges.
Officials with the state fire marshal's office said Union Grove volunteer fire crews responded to a house fire at 4445 Friendship Road just before midnight on August 10.
Officials suspected arson so an investigation began by the fire marshal's office along with the Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
The investigation included a search by a specially trained fire marshal canine and extensive interviews.
That led to the arrest of Shelton early Wednesday evening.
Shortly after his arrest, Shelton was released on a $20,000 bond.
