Thieves target Marshall Co. boat ramps | News
MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- Thieves are targeting boat ramps in Guntersville and Marshall County.
Some boaters are coming back to find they've become a victim of crime this holiday season.
The best thing boaters can do to protect themselves is to take anything they have of value with them or to leave it at home.
Marshall County officials confirmed thefts at Seibold Boat Ramp, along with Snug Harbor Boat Ramp among others.
Guntersville Police said their most recent hit came just days ago at the ramp located just north of the river bridge where a laptop was taken.
Captain John East said the thieves are taking anything they can get their hands on, including electronics, cash, and guns.
Seth Sawyer is an avid duck hunter who also enjoys fishing. For him, boat ramp theft is something he's concerned with every time he goes on the water.
"Yeah, there's been a good bit of break ins. I mean, I'm always worried about somebody. I always make sure to get my valuables out and bring it with me because it's hard to replace that kind of stuff," he said.
East said if you see suspicious activity at a boat ramp, call local law enforcement.
