MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- A conviction against a Marshall County man whose dogs brutally attacked an elderly neighbor will stand.

Richard Dean Sloan was appealing that case, but suddenly retracted his appeal from district court Tuesday morning.

He's ordered to pay a $50 fine, more than $700 in court costs, and restitution.

Eunice Hyatt was hospitalized in 2011 after being attacked by dogs outside her home near Arab.

An ongoing civil suit remains.
