Committee reviews officer-involved shooting in Arab | News
ARAB, AL (WAFF)- A shooting review committee is taking a look at the case of an officer-involved shooting in Arab.
No one got hurt in this shooting, but the committee will review the officer's use of his weapon.
The officer used his service revolver to shoot out a suspect's tire. The question the committee has is whether or not his life was being threatened.
The shooting happened in Arab last November.
In the end, Anthony Wilson was charged with more than 30 violations after leading police there on a chase.
A police report states the officer fired his weapon when the suspect put his truck in reverse and came toward him. Wilson said the officer shot after he had already driven past the officer.
Wilson also said he was assaulted while in handcuffs.
"I was on the ground when the police tased me in the back and they picked me up, and they was talking all kinds of crap, and they put me in a police car," said Wilson. "And when we were going down the road, we were going really fast, and he kept hitting the brakes making me hit my head on the window. I got this scar from it, and I was in handcuffs, and my back was all beat up from where they had handcuffed me and all this."
A three member panel consisting of the city attorney, training officer, and assistant chief were to meet behind closed doors.
